As promotion tools, brochures have never been unsuccessful in registering an impact on customers' minds. They can be kept on store counters, handed out to spread awareness about a firm, or even mailed to prospective customers. The need to have brochures printed has resulted in the rise of a segment of the printing services industry, which specially caters to brochures. There have been many radical transformations in brochure printing in recent years and the internet along with digital techniques is fuelling many of them.

Brochures have always been one of the most important promotion tools for any organization. They can be distributed by hand or by mail to clients, or can just be kept on cash counters of retail outlets. The need for brochures and their printing has led many printing services firms to dedicate themselves to this market. Developments like digital technology, graphic design tools, and the internet have radically changed the traditional style of brochure printing.

Previously, computers were rarely used in the brochure printing process, which took several days, involved in working with film negatives or plate-making machines and required many test prints, rounds of fine tuning etc. Designing too was limited to a few set formats, and the printers carried out the designing job with the client having almost no say in the matter.

Nowadays, the client himself can do the whole designing on a computer, and the brochures can be created in a much lesser timeframe than they could be some years ago. Technology has advanced far enough to make round the clock printing possible, enabling any quantity of prints to be delivered to the customer within a single day.

A vital aspect of brochure printing is that it entails important components like formatting, content, and use of graphics. The use of digital technology in the printing process has revolutionised these aspects, providing a plethora of options, including superior quality full-colour printing, modern and complex layout choices, and content-building packages.

Printing services firms provide many latest choices to clients, among which full-colour brochures and digital brochures are most preferred by them. Such brochures are apt to be used for a medium or longer period of time. Subject matter for short-term high volume use is best advertised through the use of catchy, vibrant, but brief brochures, which have only a limited print run. Off-set printing, which is a relatively older method, is still the preferred choice for these brochures as although it requires a longer time to make the brochures, a large quantity of copies can be printed at one go.

Nowadays brochure printing companies also provide ancillary services besides guaranteeing superior quality of prints for their customers. Direct mailing, distribution and design are some of these extra services.

The internet has initiated a client-centric way of approaching brochure printing, with customers now placing their orders with companies online and picking colours, designs and layouts for their brochure on their own computer screen. Therefore, brochure printing has undergone radical alterations in recent times, and the possibilities of future change seem to be endless.

Technology makes brochure printing as easy as possible. Brochure printing becomes more competitive, thus, make use of technology the most out of it and be creative as you can.

Most organizations require a printing service on a regular basis, whether it is for promotional purposes or intra-company communication. Offset printing is the most commonly used printing technology and learning about it is therefore helpful and important.

Most companies require a printing service on a regular basis, whether it is for promotional purposes or intra-company communication. Therefore, it is important to have some basic knowledge of how printing works, especially offset printing, which is one of the most widely employed printing techniques.

The clients and the printers like offset printing because of its cost effectiveness for the production of large number of prints. The clients giving bulk printing orders are advised by the printers to choose offset printing due to this reason.

The ink employed during offset printing has oil as the medium and is insoluble in water. Its so called because in this process, images are not transferred directly from the plates to the paper but this is done using rubber blankets as a medium.

First step is to develop the graphics. Previously the images were produced by creating film negatives and were then transmitted to printing plates made of aluminum. In the present times, the printers can use the image setting system for preparing the plates directly. After this, the plate is attached to a cylinder with the correct side facing upwards. Then the water and ink are spread on the image plates, in that order. The ink is poured over the image and to restrict it from spilling, a thin layer of water is put over the remaining part of the plate.

The image is then taken from the plates to the rubber blanket rolled on another cylinder, so that it is reversed. The image is then printed with its right side looking up by cutting sheets of papers into appropriate size and placing them on a third cylinder.

The final steps of the printing job involve things such as stapling, gluing or arranging the printed sheets in line with the instructions of the client, and any printing company should easily manage these.
